Amadou Jaiteh is a distinguished Gambian diplomat and international lawyer who served as Legal Adviser at the Permanent Mission of The Gambia to the United Nations in New York from 2016 to 2025. Widely regarded as one of The Gambia's influential voices in multilateral diplomacy, he has helped shape the country's engagement with the international community during a transformative period in its foreign policy.
His work has covered climate justice, peacebuilding, international cooperation, human rights and the progressive development of international law. Returning home at a critical juncture, he founded PROGRESS to answer the national yearning for bold, people-centered leadership.
Born and raised in Brikama, Jaiteh attended Brikama Primary School, Pa Joof Junior Secondary School and St Augustine's before studying law in the United Kingdom and completing a master's degree in international relations and diplomacy. He returned to The Gambia in 2013, joined the Ministry of Justice as a public prosecutor and rose to State Counsel before beginning his international diplomatic career in 2016.
